Sahvannah found me when I posted online about how much I loved National Parks - and paired with my love of photographing weddings - how badly I wanted to photograph a National Park wedding! When she saw I was based in Philadelphia it was like the stars perfectly aligned. Her and Nick were also based in Philadelphia and planning their destination wedding in Acadia National Park wedding for last fall. We met locally for their engagement photos, timeline meetings over coffee, and then met in Maine for their wedding weekend.
The wedding day was stunning from the start. A crisp October morning in a quaint Bar Harbor cabin complete with good coffee and good company. My husband, Dave tagged along as my assistant for this wedding which just made the day extra special. Sahvannah and Nick kept things simple, getting ready in the same house, with an impromptu first look on the front porch. From there, we passed around walkie talkies, one for each car, and headed out for Acadia National Park. We chose Gorham Trail, Otter Point, and Jordan Pond as our photo locations. Gorham Trail and Otter Point provided the most gorgeous views of Acadia's iconic coast line that blends rocky terrain, tall trees, blue waters, and plenty of seagulls flying overhead. After passing through crowds of congratulatory hikers enjoying pop overs and prosecco on the lawn, Jordan Pond provided a calm and secluded atmosphere for Sahvannah and Nick to exchange their private vows. After all of that goodness, our day was just getting started, so we grabbed some coffees from Jordan Pond house and made our way into Bar Harbor for the main event.
Sweet Pea's, a farm to table restaurant, was the perfect setting for Sahvannah and Nick's intimate celebrations. They had their ceremony on the farm, and celebrations followed with flowing drinks, heartfelt speeches, and wood fired pizzas. Loved ones gathered around bonfires as the party went into the night.
